About Camille
Camille Johnson is a professional vocalist, musical theatre performer, vocal coach and singing instructor, music director, voice actor, and songwriter in the Greater Vancouver area. She holds a Diploma in the Performing Arts from the Canadian College of Performing Arts, as well as a Bachelor of Arts degree in Philosophy from The University of British Columbia. Camille is passionate about creating authentic and grounded performances, and helping others to do the same through effective and healthy voice practices.
Camille’s musical journey began at an early age, where she studied Royal Conservatory of Music (RCM) piano performance and music theory at the Jean Lyons School of Music in Vancouver. She found a love for singing through her church choir, which led her to take private voice instruction throughout her high school years. She completed the RCM voice curriculum up to the Grade 5 level, and was twice awarded the RCM Silver Medal (highest mark in BC) for her exam results in Voice Performance. Camille also sang with the international award-winning West Vancouver Secondary School Treble Choir, as well as the professional female choral ensemble Celesta from 1999-2001.
Upon graduating from high school, Camille pursued a different path studying Philosophy at UBC while continuing to perform in musical theatre and take music composition classes to hone her songwriting skills. After graduating from UBC she decided to pivot to musical theatre and enrolled in the Canadian College of Performing Arts (CCPA) in Victoria for their two-year Performing Arts Diploma program. During her time there she was awarded the Bill and Dorothy Bender Scholarship for outstanding vocal achievement. She also participated in the first season of the CBC reality TV competition Triple Sensation, where she was judged by leading industry professionals such as the Tony award-winning producer Garth Drabinsky and legendary American composer Marvin Hamlisch, and was selected as a semi-finalist in the Western Canada portion of the competition.
After CCPA Camille returned to Vancouver and worked part-time as a professional singer at several private events and concerts as well as performing in musical theatre productions across the Lower Mainland, while also working full-time as a post-secondary administrator and later as an IT professional at UBC. Camille was also on the on-call list as a Production Singer with Royal Caribbean Cruise Lines during this time. Some of her favourite performance credits include performing the song “I Dreamed a Dream” from Les Miserables with the Victoria Symphony, playing the title role in the North Vancouver Community Players’ production of Snow White, and performing the dual roles of Ms. Gulch and the Wicked Witch in the production Wizard of Oz with Deep Cove Stage Society. Camille has also provided musical direction, vocal coaching, musical compositions and vocal arrangements to high school and community theatre productions in the Lower Mainland.
Since 2010 Camille has also offered private vocal instruction and coaching to individuals of all ages and levels of experience. Throughout this time she found a passion for teaching and in 2025 she sought out additional vocal pedagogy training through The Lovetri Method in Somatic Voicework™, where she completed all three levels of their program. Incorporating the principles that she learned through Somatic Voicework™, she has assisted both individuals and groups in developing free and healthy voices.
