Voice Lessons
My goal as a voice teacher is to help you find your unique and expressive voice in a free, flexible and healthy manner, grounded in strong functional training.
I teach several different vocal music styles, including, but not limited to, Contemporary Commercial Music (CCM), musical theatre, and classical singing styles. I work with people of various ages and levels from beginners to professionals, and tailor our lessons to your needs and goals both in the moment as well as long term.
I especially enjoy helping people who have been told in the past that they cannot sing or “find their note” - I haven’t yet met a student who couldn’t sing with the right instruction!
I employ a nurturing approach to teaching that is underscored by strong functional training. No two lessons are the same, as I tailor each lesson to the student based on their particular goals, the condition of their voice on that day, and their unique learning style. I also believe that singing should be fun! Good healthy singing takes time, but with that said, beginners can expect to see positive changes in their voice very early on in their lessons.
Lessons are typically either 30 minutes or 60 minutes, depending on the age or the needs of the student. Lessons can take place either in my home studio in Port Coquitlam, or online via Zoom.
Introductory rates are available for new students, as well as discounted weekly lesson rates. To learn more please contact me directly through the contact form below, or by phone at 778-960-5685.
What You Can Expect
Individual Approach
As a person you are unique - and your vocal training should match that. I work with the person who is in front of me rather than using a one-size-fits-all approach.
Performance-Driven
We use our speaking voices every day to communicate information to others, and singing is no different. As a trained actor and musical theatre performer I also focus on how we convey lyrics and emotion and tell stories through song, in addition to the technical aspects of singing.
Safe, Respectful and Nurturing Environment
My studio is a safe space for individuals regardless of race or cultural background, age, ability, gender, sexual orientation, religious or political affiliation. The goal is to foster and celebrate your individual expression through your voice, supported by healthy vocal practices.
Proven Vocal Pedagogical Methods
My teaching incorporates both my own professional experience along with the principles I learned at the Lovetri Institute for Somatic Voicework™. Somatic Voicework™ is a comprehensive vocal pedagogy that helps students achieve authenticity and musical artistry in any style of music through functional voice training.
